A Grand Adventure Awaits in the High Sierras

Tahoe has always been synonymous with treasure—first as fresh water for Native Americans, then as nearby silver and gold lodes, and today as home to luxurious ski resorts and casinos. Many riches have been found here, but some have been lost to the shadows of time. Until now.

We're the people (plus some new friends) behind the now famous SF Treasure Hunt. We got so many positive notes about our hunt that we're scaling it out- rather than a single big event, we're going to be running daily treasure hunts during ski season, for people who don't want to ski. We'll charge a small fee to play starting in a few weeks, but we're beta testing it for free now! If you've found this page, you're either a friend of a friend or have seen one of our local TikTok ads- in either case, welcome! There may be some quirks, and a few of the puzzles are still hand-made, but we're working on it! And of course, there is a treasure chest, just don't expect $10,000.

The mechanics of the game are simple: you need to figure out the secret words, and input them to this website, at which point we'll give you more info. You'll have to solve puzzles, go places, and find things. At the end, you should have enough clues to know where to find the chest.

This hunt is to find the missing Donner Party gold. Most accounts indicate the fortune went missing in the Truckee area, and so the search will begin there. The crossword below should help you get started. Best of luck!
